Frio DUO - cooling (isothermal) case for two pens or vials of insulin

The FRIO® case is:

• outer bag made of Cambrelle material, which drains moisture well
• inner sachet - cotton with stitching, which evenly distributes the non-toxic absorbent
• keeps insulin within a safe temperature range
• it is enough to immerse it in cool water for activation

Note: suitable for storing other temperature-sensitive drugs in small packages (in the case of storing other drugs, follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding storage conditions).

Instruction - How to use the case:

• immerse the inner liner with crystals in cold water for 8-12 minutes
• gently spread the crystals along the visible seams
• after a moment of soaking, the crystals will take the form of a gel that can be felt with your
• fingers
• when the gel fills the chambers of the insert, remove the case to drain from the water
• pat dry with a paper towel and place in a decorative outer bag
• ready to use

note: this is an estimated time - we suggest removing the case from the water when the crystals turn into gel, filling the inner liner into 3/4 and leaving it until the dripping water is absorbed

note: any cold water (tap, river, mineral) can be used to activate the case, do not pour boiling water or immerse in salt sea water

How do the FRÍO® Thermal Cases work?

After immersing the FRÍO® Case in cold water for a sufficiently long time (determined by the manufacturer depending on the type of Case), the crystals contained in the inner insert take the form of a gel. The volatilization process then begins: the air reacts with the gel, producing a cooling effect. Air access to the FRÍO® Case is necessary for the reaction to proceed properly. The FRÍO® case cannot be stored in vacuum packs or airtight bags preventing the access of air when it is in the active state.

What temperature do the FRÍO® Thermal Cases keep?

Insulin begins the degradation process at 30 degrees Celsius. The FRÍO® Thermal Cases keep the insulin within a safe temperature range, 18 - 26 degrees Celsius, depending on the ambient temperature in which the FRÍO® Cases are stored. For example, when the air temperature remains at 38.8 degrees Celsius, the FRÍO® case will keep the insulin at 26 degrees C for a minimum of 45 hours.

How long will the FRÍO® Thermal Case keep insulin at a safe temperature?

After activating the FRÍO® Case by immersing it in cold water for a sufficiently long time, the FRÍO® Case will maintain an insulin-safe temperature for at least 45 hours, provided that the ambient temperature does not exceed 37.8 degrees Celsius.

What is the average service life of Thermal FRÍO®?

FRÍO® cases will last for at least 12-18 months if used correctly. This period is minimal and in many cases the shelf life of the FRÍO® Case is much longer. The FRÍO® case will be used to keep the insulin temperature safe as long as the crystals take the form of a gel when the FRÍO® case is activated. After some time, turning the crystals into a gel may require immersing the FRÍO® Case in cold water longer than the time recommended for the new product.
